The Australian Motor Sport Foundation (AMSF) has today announced that Jack Le Brocq has been selected to represent the CAMS Rising Star Program in 2010.

Le Brocq, 17, will be alternating his overalls for a race suit next year, as the Minda Motorsport apprentice mechanic joins Matthew Brabham in the 2010 CAMS Rising Star Program.

Le Brocq, from Victoria, has shown enormous potential in the Victorian Formula Vee Championship. With three round wins at state level and a second place at the Formula Vee national round at Winton in 2009, Le Brocq is eager to progress to the next level.

"Being selected to be a part of the 2010 CAMS Rising Star Program is such an honour and is more than I could ever have wished for. I can’t wait to get back into a Formula Ford after my last test day and continue to learn the car before the Australian Formula Ford Championship starts next year," Le Brocq said.

"It is great to be running with Minda Motorsport and I can only benefit from its professionalism and expertise. Everything has just fallen into place over the past few months and I am looking forward to the challenge of racing against some of the best drivers in Australia in 2010."

AMSF General Manager Martin Stillman said: "Season 2010 is an exciting year for the CAMS Rising Star Program with two extremely talented young rookie drivers joining the program. Both Jack and Matthew Brabham deserve their place in the CAMS Rising Star team, each having enormous potential and scope for further development on their natural ability. I am looking forward to watching their progress as drivers next year."

The aim of the CAMS Rising Star Program is to identify and fast-track the development of young Australian drivers from the junior ranks to national and international competition through clearly defined and supported pathways.

The 2010 program will be strengthened by a continued focus on fitness and ensuring peak performance, including the implementation of the 2010 Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Motor Sport Camp; a joint initiative between the AMSF and CAMS to ensure its talented young drivers have access to the world class training facilities at the Institute.

Financial support will be provided to the CAMS Rising Stars through the AMSF, as well as access to a range of support services including media and sponsorship training, specialised motor sport fitness training, networking opportunities within the AMSF Network 10,000 Group and exposure to the vast knowledge and skill base of the AMSF Board of Directors.

The CAMS Rising Star Program acknowledges the continued support of the Australian Government via the Australian Sports Commission, and the support from its partners including: the Australian Sports Foundation, Minda Motorsport, OAMPS Insurance Brokers, the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport, Mark Webber, GMP Racing Products, Azumah, Pozest Fire and VDO.
