Jack Le Brocq - Eastern CreekJack Le Brocq has impressed at round 3 of the Australian Formula Ford Championship at Eastern Creek by taking two 2nd place finishes and the lap record around the challenging Sydney circuit. Jack turned many heads in his Cams Rising Star, Minda Motorsport prepared Mygale as he went 9 tenths under the lap record in Race 1 and then continued to impress over the weekend when he placed second in every session before he struck mechanical issues in the final race which put him out of contention for the race win and an almost certain round podium.

Jack’s #49 Mygale also won the “MSCA Best Presented Car” award for the Eastern Creek round which is a huge compliment to Mechanic Aidan Zanotto, the Minda Team, CAMS/AMSF and Jack’s sponsors.

“I was rapt to be able to walk away from the weekend with two 2nd place finishes and the lap record for the circuit! I was really able to make the most of qualifying in the wet and to start off the front row in Race 1 was an awesome feeling.”

Race 1 saw Le Brocq start from the front row and pushing hard for the nine laps on a now dry surface was again showing pace and able to post a new lap record of 1:35.3251. He wasn’t able to hold onto the leader as the race went on but to walk away with the lap record was excellent.

Race 2 brought about a very difficult race with the cars heading out onto a damp track which in turn started to dry out during the race. With a safety car mid race this left a 1 lap sprint to the flag which brought about some great racing. Jack left himself out to dry at turn two when he tried to attack for first place which then dropped him back to 3rd, he then reclaimed his 2nd place position 3 corners later and set off after the leader. Jack closed the gap over the remaining half of the lap but by this stage it was too late and had to settle for 2nd place.

Race 3 saw Le Brocq once again start from the front row and after an excellent start, was heading into turn 1 beside Waters when his car suffered a mechanical failure which put Jack back to 10th place by the end of the first lap and then to 14th before retiring from the race. This was a disappointing end to an impressive weekend.

“It’s just an awesome feeling when all the hard work that everyone has put in to get to this point pays off and I couldn’t have asked for anymore. Race 3 was a disappointment with the mechanical failure but that happens in motorsport and now I am even hungrier to get back onto the track at Round 4 of the Championship and to fight for the race wins!

Jack is now preparing for Round 4 of the Australian Formula Ford Championship at Queensland Raceway from the 19th to the 21st of August.

Round 3 of the AFFC will be televised on SBS Speedweek at a time and date to be confirmed.
