Jack Le Brocq - WintonJack Le Brocq had the weekend that every driver dreads at Round 3 of the Australian Formula Ford Championship at Winton Motor Raceway. The weekend didn’t start off as Jack had planned and he finished well down in the practice time standings. Early Saturday morning Le Brocq struggled to get a good time in on the new tyres and didn’t get the full advantage that the tyres have to offer and ended up down the pack for the first race.

"We’ve tried many different set ups today, and I think we made positive gains towards the end of the second session," he said. “Obviously it wasn’t the greatest day for me, but it’s a useful experience to spend the day learning how the car reacts to changes”

Heading into the races Le Brocq showed some good signs of pace towards the end of Sunday. Jack was running as high as 11th place in Race 2 but slowly dropped back to 17th place. Le Brocq finished 16th in Race 1 and 3.

“It certainly wasn’t the weekend I was looking for,” he reflected. “We really struggled with the car this weekend but felt we had made some good inroads for the last race. The car felt really good but I was unlucky to be hit in the early laps which bent the rear corner and upset the cars balance”

“Battling to get into the top 15 obviously wasn’t very satisfying, but that’s how racing is sometimes. We had good speed at Albert Park and Queensland Raceway, so we’ll keep our chin up and move forward.”

“We still learnt a great deal across this weekend not just with the car but also about myself as a driver.”

Jack’s next race will be Round 4 at Hidden Valley, Darwin on June 18th-20th.
