Winner Race 3 - Phillip Island Cams Rising Star driver Jack Le Brocq rounded out Round 6 of the Australian Formula Ford Championship on a high as he crossed the line in first place in front of championship leader Cameron Waters. Although it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Melbourne based driver as he was involved in an incident at turn 4 after a safety car restart which sent him to the rear of the 21 car field during Race 1 as he was battling for the top spot on the podium. Jack recovered in Race 2 with a stellar drive through the field from 13th position to 4th, right on the tail of the 2nd and 3rd place finishers.

“I was very disappointed with the result from Race 1 as we were in a very good position but unfortunately those incidents happen and we all move on from that. It did make for a very exciting Race 2 as I had to come through the field which always makes it very interesting as every driver doesn’t want to give an inch! It took me a couple of laps to really start making headway back through the field as I was having trouble finding some room on the track around a couple of the back marker drivers but after I cleared them, I put my head down and started to make my way through the field. We had some awesome speed and to be able to close onto the back of the 2nd and 3rd place finishers on the last lap is just a huge credit to what we can do! I settled for 4th which set me up for a chance at taking out Race 3.”

Race 3 was where Jack really stamped his authority and showed that he belongs at the front of the field after he lead for most of the race to take home the top spot on the podium!

“I was absolutely rapt to be able to come back after a very disappointing Race 1 where we were so strong, so it definitely proves that you just have to keep your head down and never give up and I think I have proved that this weekend. The car had great pace during the entire weekend so it is a huge credit to all the guys who have got us to this point and to only be 13 points off 2nd in the Championship, it’s going to make for a very interesting last two rounds at the Gold Coast and Symmons Plains rounds.”

Jack is heading over to England early October to compete in the British Formula Ford Festival at the famous Brands Hatch circuit from the 10th to 16th of October. The weeklong Festival will give him a great deal of experience on the track and a chance to get used to the Dunlop slick tyres that are used. Jack will fly home in time for Round 7 of the Australian Formula Ford Championship at the Gold Coast 600 at Surfers Paradise event where he will be looking to move up in the Championship standings and take 2nd overall.
